As your partner in success, BOMA New York offers scholarships to further professional education. Established in 1988, the BOMA New York Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to students enrolled in BOMI educational programs. To date, BOMA New York has awarded 214 scholarships. Who is Eligible Youmust be a BOMA New York Member on record, that is, a full dues paying member.
What the Scholarship Covers Scholarships cover the value of a maximum of seven BOMI courses toward the completion of one BOMI designation. It includes all ebooks and exam fees, as well as the BOMA New York processing fee, plus courses taken by 3/4/6-week classroom/online live instructor led method or home study. (Please note: Scholarship recipients must complete and pass each course before taking the next course. Scholarship recipients must complete the full designation within four years of receiving the scholarship).
Scholarships DO NOT cover:
BOMI International one-time only registration fee
BOMI or BOMA New York late fees
BOMI exam re-take fees
BOMI course transfer fees
BOMI online courses
Travel expenses and lodging
Selection Process The Scholarship Committee determines each award based on the points addressed in the required essay, completed application form, and the in-person interview. As part of the application process candidates must also attend an in-person interview with the Scholarship Committee at the BOMA New York office.
Recipients should complete the above form and the following documents:
A one-page essay on “Why I should be considered for a scholarship.” The essay must be typed single-spaced on one 8 ½ by 11 sheet of paper. The essay should not exceed one page. Candidates generally address the need for career advancement and professional development.
A letter of recommendation from your current employer on company letterhead. Please include supervisors’ business card, if possible.
Candidates must attend an in-person/remote interview with the Scholarship Committee at the BOMA New York Office/via zoom, if instructed.
Completed application materials should be submitted to Becky Perez, Director of Professional Development & Administration. Entire package must be submitted prior to the deadline to receive consideration.
