MEMBERSHIP TYPES AND APPLICATIONS

Membership at BOMA New York is divided into five levels to best accommodate the industry experts we serve: Principal, Associate, Professional, Allied and Emerging Leaders. Before deciding which membership category to apply, please note that membership is held not by you as an individual – but by your firm. After your firm has been accepted into the Association, you, as the signing applicant, are designated as the “member of record.” A description of each kind of membership is included below.
 
Principal Membership
Dues: $2,135 Annually
Principal Membership may be based on the applicant’s ownership and/or management of an individual building or group of buildings whose aggregate size exceeds 50,000 rentable square feet in New York City (5 Boroughs) or ownership and/or management of residential properties aggregating in excess of 100,000 square feet in New York City (5 Boroughs). Principal Members’ business responsibilities division/or revenue (more than 51%) shall be from the ownership, lease holding, or management of such real estate. Principal Members include but are not limited to: Corporate Real Estate Professionals, Facilities Managers, Property Managers, Directors of Engineering, Directors of Security, Asset Managers, Managing Directors, Fire/Life/Safety Directors, Real Estate Brokers.

Associate Membership
Dues: $865 Annually
An Associate Membership is open to firm associates of the Principal member. Associate Members have all rights and privileges of the Principal Member except the right to vote or hold office.

Professional Membership

Dues: $2,115 Annually
Professional Members are those having a direct involvement in the real estate industry falling into the following two categories: Real Estate Services including but not limited to: Accounting, Appraisals, Legal Services, Auditing, Architecture, Brokerage, Construction Management, Engineering, Expediting and Permitting; Building Consulting Services including but not limited to: Air Quality, Energy Efficiency, Environmental, Facilities Management, Fire & Life Safety, Janitorial, Pest Control, Space Planning, Water Quality, Vertical Transportation, Technology. Professional Members must be product/service/brand neutral, meaning that they must not also directly or indirectly perform any services for which they are also providing consulting services. 51% of the firms’ business shall be from consulting services.

Allied Membership
Dues: $2,465 Annually

Allied Members shall consist of representatives from contractors, suppliers of goods or services, and manufacturers or any other companies who serve the real estate industry, in New York City (5 Boroughs) not covered under the definition of the Professional Membership category.

Emerging Leaders Membership
Dues: $175 Annually
Emerging Leaders membership is open to individuals who are 35 years old and under and/or have 5 years or less experience in the industry. As an Emerging Leader, you receive local benefits only and will not be recognized as a member with BOMA International. To qualify for an Emerging Leader membership, your company must have at least one full dues paying Primary (e.g. - Principal, Allied, or Professional) Membership with BOMA New York. You are ineligible for this membership if you are ALREADY a Principal or an Associate Member. Membership expires each year on December 31st and you must reapply for the following year.

Student Membership

Dues: $150 Annually
Student Membership may be held by a person who is currently enrolled in a college/university and is not employed by a BOMA/NY member firm. Student membership will be held for a period of one year and reevaluated at the end of the term. If you are already a full Principal or Associate Member, you are ineligible to apply for this membership.
