Government Affairs BOMA New York has championed many initiatives as an influential voice at the local, state and national levels. We regularly lobby and provide guidance in the development of codes around energy conservation, indoor air quality, elevator safety, handicapped access (including the ADA), and various other issues. We understand the tremendous impact legislation can have on our buildings, our tenants and our safety in New York, and value being an active voice for our industry.
Energy and Sustainability By partnering with groups like the New York Energy Consumer Council (NYECC) and the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY), BOMA New York creates legislative agendas shaped by a consensus for the most realistic energy efficiency programs. BOMA New York strives to represent the real estate community’s concerns and offer comprehensive resources such as guidebooks for instituting cooperative and productive relationships between landlords and tenants.
Preparedness BOMA New York takes pride in its efforts to identify and disseminate information that will benefit the commercial real estate industry on emergency preparedness, building security and related issues. By hosting seminars on subjects such as high-rise preparedness and counterterrorism and others, and taking an active role in code creation and protocol, BOMA New York plays a real role in New York City’s emergency preparedness. As early as 1999, BOMA New York became the first real estate organization to hold a seat in the Command Center at the Office of Emergency Management.
